Whatever we do, we have to begin by understanding our goals correctly. We might start by asking ourselves why we have to do it. If we understand why, then we will try to do it properly. There are two major correct understanding.
A sympathetic friend possesses admirable characteristics far different from the one who leads you down the road to ruin
Before knowing what good and bad deeds is, or what merit and sin is, we have to have already performed many bad deeds. Certainly, when bad deeds bear fruit we nust have been affected by what we did.
1. Do things with precision 2. Give value to resources and raw materials
If we are someone who wishes for fulfillment by the sense-pleasures and habitually partake of those sense-pleasures
The Buddha characterized this sort of suffering as that which makes the mind depressed and dejected
1. A long life because one did not kill in the past 2. Freedom from illness because one did not treat animals badly or cause them distress
At the end of the Lord Buddha’s sermon, kondanna, the leader of the ‘Group of Five’, became a Stream-Enterer [sotapana]
“A bodhi tree that grows up in a pot will have life, but its growth will be hindered by the space that is available for it to grow in the pot
Do not worship objects or persons who are not worth to be worshipped. It will lead us astray and make us believe in what is wrong
